“They had the option to transfer to multiple cities. Mom wanted New York City and Dad wanted Rio, so they played a game of cards to decide. Dad won.”  ~Kate Palan

One of the most unifying human characteristics, a shared feeling of remorse, is examined in the docu-short “Diary of Constance.”

The premise of the story centers on my personal search for information associated with the crash of Pan American flight 202, a flight captained by my grandfather. In 1952, the plane known as Clipper Good Hope was lost flying over the Brazilian Amazon, later to be found with no survivors. I had never heard this story until, at age 33, this revelation appeared as I came across several old boxes containing family artifacts on the evening before my grandmother’s funeral.

Building off of the documentary, I created a site for additional exploration – Video, audio, photography and narrative writing, all sourced from my treasure trove of family 8mm reels, 35mm slides, pictures and letters, as well as the extensive research that I’ve conducted to uncover archival footage, newspapers and documents. New footage, similar to my first documentary, will be shot to help move the story forward, along with original interviews.
